Shaping Light

The Future of Energy

At SunDensity, we’ve invented a proprietary coating so smart, it makes sunlight more efficient.

Our Photonic Smart Coating (PSC™) considerably increases power output from solar modules and produces more accessible green-energy solutions at a lower overall cost. This helps combat climate change and increases energy equity. Our proprietary coatings are also utilized in low-E and architectural glass applications designed specifically to reduce heat-gain and make buildings more efficient.

We’re innovating materials for the future, increasing energy performance and reducing costs.

Learn More About Our
State-of-the-Art Research & Development Facility

SunDensity is driving leading-edge research and development at its facility located in Rochester, New York — the photonics and optical glass epicenter of the world. We’re also the proud recipients of the ‘Company of the Year’ and ‘Innovator of the Year’ awards at Luminate NY 2020. In addition to creating award-winning technology, we’re creating more jobs, right here in Rochester.

At our core, we're a coating and materials company that develops unique and advanced photonic solutions to capture sunlight and enhance its potential for various benefits — like clean, renewable energy, for starters. We’re also improving low-E coating technology to efficiently control the detrimental impacts of  “heat gain” in homes and buildings that creates increased energy demand for for environmental control. SunDensity is developing our Photonic Smart Coatings (PSC™) to uniquely capture these opportunities and others we’ve yet to discover.

The Power of Proprietary Technology

Most photonic processes are inefficient. The problem is that the spectrum of incoming light doesn’t match what’s best for the underlying device or system. SunDensity’s Photonic Smart Coating (PSC™) provides more energy at the optimum wavelength to create increased efficiency.

Our Photonic Smart Coating (PSC™) transforms ultraviolet light to infrared light — increasing the power output from solar modules and creating more accessible green energy solutions at a lower overall cost. Our proprietary coatings utilize advanced photonics to capture sunlight and enhance its potential for various benefits — like clean, renewable solar power and optical instrumentation. We’re also applying these coatings in low-E technology for architectural glass applications addressing heat gain to reduce energy demand in the built environment.
